We want to hear your stories and tips about how your family survives, or tries to survive, with fewer of those “I want” items. To celebrate the release of Hearts at Home’s newest book: Living With Less So That Your Family Can Have More, by Jill and Mark Savage, we are launching the Living with Less Contest. E-mail Hearts at Home a story or money-saving tip that gives us a peek into your daily experiences representing the humor, richness, or spiritual aspects of what it’s like to live with less. We will choose many to post on the Hearts at Home Blog during the month of February. On March 1st, we will post the top five submissions including the Grand Prize Winner. Each of these top five winners will receive a copy of the Savages’ new book Living With Less So That Your Family Can Have More and the Grand Prize winner will receive a goodie basket of mom treats from the Hearts at Home Gift Shoppe! All entries must be received by midnight (CST) on Sunday, February 28th. We would love to post some of the entries on our blog throughout the month of February, so feel free to submit yours ahead of the deadline. Submission guidelines: Comments (2)

I totally agree with the library thing with the kids. I remember when we had the bookmobile come to our country town where we went to school. A limit of 7, and I took 7! We downsized our dish channels to the Family pack. We each get our favorites with tons of channels for kids. We also stopped eating out as often--special occasions as much as possible, and then share a plate. What I've also done, is learn to cook some of our 'eating out' foods. We no longer have a craving to eat out as often. I buy things at the grocery store in bulk when on a super special. That way I save if I need something, but the price isn't a sale price. I regularly check out several stores for their bargain prices on food.
