Here is one of our family favorites: If you want your treats to look like ornaments, line muffin tins with buttered plastic wrap. Press the marshmallow Rice Krispy mixture in muffin tin about 1” thick. Once the cookie has cooled and set, pop out and frost with colored frosting. Go wild with decorations! Package up the cookies and give to neighbors. Your children will be so proud that they added their own creative touch to this standard recipe, and you will be beaming too. Teaching our children to think outside of the box (cereal box that is) is rewarding not only to us but to them. Have fun! Let the brainstorming begin! The Original Rice Krispies Treat 3 tablespoons butter or margarine 1 package (10 oz., about 40) regular marshmallows - OR -4 cups miniature marshmallows 6 cups Rice Krispies® In large saucepan melt butter over low heat. Add marshmallows and stir until completely melted. Remove from heat. Add Kellogg's Rice Krispies cereal. Stir until well coated. Using buttered spatula or wax paper evenly press mixture into 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan coated with cooking spray. Cool. Cut into 2-inch squares. Best if served the same day. Microwave Directions: In microwave-safe bowl heat butter and marshmallows on HIGH for 3 minutes, stirring after 2 minutes. Stir until smooth. Follow steps 2 and 3 above.
