The Annual Christmas Sweater PDF Print E-mail
Written by Shari Braendel

altThe Annual Christmas Sweater: My sister has a sweater for every holiday. Easter? She reaches for the purple one embellished with a big egg and miniature bunnies. Halloween? She has two, one in orange with a black cat and one with sparkly pumpkins.

The onset of each season brings out a sweater of its own and then of course, there is Christmas. The season of all holiday seasons to break out the sweater. You know the one. It’s been hanging in your closet for as long as you can remember and you find yourself reaching for it more than you ought to.

Perhaps you should get rid of it since you’ve had it for so many years, but you just can’t. There’s something inside you that begs you to wear it several times during this splendid time of year!

The question I so often get in December is this, “Is it still okay for me to wear my Christmas sweater or is it outdated?”

Well here’s the thing. I don’t mind Christmas sweaters. My mother had one that was actually quite elegant as far as holiday sweaters go. It was pale blue, adorned with silver and complimented her salt and pepper hair marvelously. Children love when an adult wears a Christmas sweater because it reminds them that Santa is not far behind! And I’ve seen delightful holiday sweaters on precious little puppies! But the question still remains, should YOU wear your Christmas sweater?

As moms, it’s really easy to go to your closet, seek out that Christmas sweater, throw on your favorite pair of jeans and dash to your child’s school party or your Bible study tea. After all, it doesn’t take much thought, it’s decorative and hey, you’re in the holiday spirit!

This year, however, I have some new ideas for you. While it is still okay to wear your Christmas sweater, why not opt instead for something that shows your personal style a little more? If you are a trendy mom, find something shiny in bronze, copper or pewter that helps YOU stand out instead of your Christmas sweater being the center of attention.

If you prefer bright colors, look for a cashmere or cashmere-like sweater in royal purple or bold blue. Add a beautiful vintage necklace or pin from your great aunt’s jewelry collection or find one-of-a-kind pieces at a local thrift shop. Red and black are still great hues to bring in the season and sweaters in these staple shades are always a stunning choice.

Find one adorned with holiday sparkle so all you have to do is add dangling earrings to make the look uniquely yours. If you prefer softer colors, look for tender pastels in pink, lavender or mint green. You can still wear all these sweaters, no matter the color, with denim, but to dress up a bit more, wear winter white slacks and sparkly ballet flats or heels.

What should you do with your Christmas sweater, since you’re not going to wear it, you ask? After speaking with my organizing, fix-it friend, Karen Ehman, she informed me that moms hate to waste anything so she gave me some great ideas to pass along to you.

For you crafty types, you might cut the sleeves off your holiday sweater and turn it into a rug. Or how about turning it into a sweater for your small dog? Or Karen’s craftiest idea is to turn it into a lampshade! (I’d love to see her house, I’ll bet it’s wonderful this time of year!) Whatever you do with your Christmas sweater, try not to wear it this year and get yourself something pretty and sparkly instead. Even if it IS just a beautiful sweater.

Which ones should you get? I always recommend for every cheap wow gold player that they get atleast two. Quest Helper and Auctioneer.Auctioneer you’ve probably already heard about or maybe not. If you’re wanting to make wow gold, you’ll be crippled without this addon. It’ll help you with cheap wow gold price comparison, and pretty much let you drop an itme in the slot and it will automatically undercut the competition by 5%. It’s a big time saver and money maker.
