Start your advent calendar and candle. This is great for family devotions time. Pull out your Christmas decorations and start decorating early this year. Hang a wreath on your front door, string up outside lights, and put up your tree. We love the warm glow of Christmas lights so we decorate our tree early and have more time to enjoy it. Plus, it’s nice to be able to have a place to put wrapped presents. Keep up with your Christmas shopping. December Week 2: Finish your Christmas cards and get them in the mail. Finish your shopping. If you like the last minute rush, then save your stocking stuffers for week 4 of December. Finalize your Christmas Eve dinner plans, Christmas day breakfast, and Christmas lunch. Invite your guests and prepare your menus. December Week 3: Remember to keep the true meaning of Christmas in your heart, especially as you get down to these last couple of weeks of holiday preparations. Hebrews 13:2 tells us, “Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it.” Entertain some angels this week as you and your family do something for the less fortunate. Bake Christmas cookies this week. (There are lots of ideas for goodies later in this book!). Make sure you and your family are recording gifts you receive so thank-you’s can be written. You can record the gift, the family member who received it, who it was from, and a place to check when the thank you is sent. December Week 4: Look over your holiday menus and make your grocery shopping list. If your budget allows, as you buy your food, purchase a few extras to help stock your church’s charity kitchen.
